The Executive MBA is designed to provide current and aspiring leaders with the skills and confidence needed to drive successful businesses.

The programme offers a comprehensive understanding of business fundamentals, with a special emphasis on leadership development and sustainable business practices.

As a student, you will improve your decision-making skills and leadership abilities - all within the framework of a flexible course structure that allows you to continue working full-time while you are studying.

Therefore, sustainability is closely integrated with the other BI programme elements to ensure you are equipped to lead sustainability transformations across business units in a rapidly changing world.

Programme structure and schedule

The EMBA runs over 18 months, and consists of:

Core courses
Throughout the programme there are 5 compulsory weeks with core courses. 4 weeks are delivered at the BI Norwegian Business School campus in Oslo and 1 week at Haas School of Business in Berkeley.

Elective courses

Choose three out of nine elective courses. Each elective lasts for 1 week, and is delivered as in-class on campus sessions.

Online sessions

Between the in-class sessions, students must attend 4 hour-webinars Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings every second week.

A one-year Consultancy Project 

The Consultancy Project is a cornerstone of the Executive MBA at BI Norwegian Business School, accounting for 30 ECTS - one third of the entire programme. It offers participants the opportunity to apply the knowledge, skills and insights gained throughout the EMBA to solve a substantial, real-world business challenge.

Practical information

Application and admission requirements

The programme starts 9 February 2026. 

Qualifying applicants are invited for an interview. The admissions committee places particulare emphasis on each applicant`s academic qualifications, motivation, professional experience and maturity. 

Offers of admission will be made based on availability of seats in the programme.

For the BI Scholarship, the application deadline is 1 December and offers will be sent to selected candidates by 6 weeks before the start-up of the programme.

Scholarship

BI offers scholarships for exceptional candidates joining the Executive MBA. Females and employees in non-governmental organizations are encouraged to apply.

Tuition fee

The tuition fee is NOK 615 000 (divided into three installments). Digital study materials are included. The tuition fee does not include travel expenses (flights and accommodation).

This is a part-time program, so you can only apply for a tourist visa. If you are eligible for financial support from the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund, the EMBA is a supported program. Please see their website for more information. Please note that we cannot assist you with queries related to the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund.

Assessment

Assessment within the Executive MBA is carefully designed to reflect the programme’s emphasis on practical application, collaborative learning, and professional relevance. While each course includes its own detailed evaluation criteria, the overall assessment strategy incorporates a diverse range of methods that replicate real-world business challenges and are directly aligned with the intended learning outcomes. 

Participants are evaluated through a balanced mix of individual and group assignments, ensuring that both personal accountability and teamwork are developed and recognised. These assignments include written reports, case analyses, project work, and presentations, providing a dynamic assessment experience that tests analytical rigour, communication skills, and strategic thinking.
