BI Norwegian Business School, Department of Law and Governance, has the pleasure to host the inaugural Oslo Shipping Symposium.
The shipping symposium is designed to become an annual platform, bringing together the key stakeholders in the shipping industry - regulators, legal professionals, industry leaders, and researchers – to exchange insights and ideas on pressing topics affecting the sector.
Harnessing the collective knowledge and understanding of all participants, we hope that the Oslo Shipping Symposium will better prepare us for the challenges we face.
The theme of this year’s symposium is:
The Green Shift in Commercial Shipping
The Green Shift in commercial shipping is the industry's transition toward more environmentally sustainable practices. This shift involves reducing carbon emissions, adopting cleaner technologies, and complying with environmental regulations, such as those from the EU.
Joined by special guest Annika Kroon (Head of Maritime Transport and Logistics Unit, European Commission), leading researchers, professionals, and industry experts will provide insight into the critical legal, finance and management issues.
This will be followed by a debate where the Symposium will challenge, analyze and address the status quo of the green shift in commercial shipping, and ask if the chosen regulatory approaches are achieving their desired outcome; what are the gaps in our knowledge; and how can we find new solutions to tackle challenges that lie ahead?
