BI launches a mentor programme for women in finance

22 August 2024

BI Norwegian Business School, in collaboration with ABG Sundal Collier, is launching the mentor programme Women in Finance. Eight lucky students will receive guidance from experienced mentors in the finance industry.

The purpose of the mentor programme is to support female students in choosing careers or further studies in finance. It aims to give students a better understanding of the opportunities available in the finance industry and help them make good decisions.

The students are each matched with a mentor, all of whom are BI alumni with leading positions in finance. One of the mentors is Kirsti Merethe Tranby, who currently works as the Head of Financial Services at KPMG.

"I think it is exciting to be involved because it is about giving back, sharing my own experiences, and also get inspired and learn something new," says Kirsti.

Kirsti has been matched with BI student Mathea Nygård, who is in her third year of the business studies programme (siviløkonomstudiet).

“From the programme, i hope to learn more about the different opportunities in the finance industry. I also hope to get tips and advice from an experienced mentor that I can carry with me in the future,” she says.

President Karen Spens is very happy that the mentor program has finally been launched. She explains that the programme was created for several reasons. BI want to encourage more women to pursue careers in finance and the industry has wanted more focus on this for a long time.

"At BI, we support all women considering a career in finance. Together with our experienced mentors and our friends at the ABG Sundal Collier Foundation, we want to help give our students the best possible start. We look forward to following their journey," says Spens.
