After two years as a board member, and the last year as deputy Chair of BI's Board of Trustees, Hogna was elected as new Chair in March 2024.

Hogna is currently CEO of Norconsult, a leading Nordic consulting firm. From 2015, he was the CEO of Sapa, the world's largest producer and supplier of aluminum extrusions, until Norsk Hydro acquired the company in 2017. The business was then integrated as Hydro's largest business area, which Hogna led from 2017 to 2020. From 2008 to 2015, Hogna was a member of the executive management team of Yara International, where he was CFO and later EVP of Downstream. Earlier in his career, he held several positions at Norsk Hydro and McKinsey.

Hogna holds a degree in industrial economics from The Norwegian University of Science and Technology, an MBA from INSEAD and further management training from Harvard Business School.

“BI has a unique societal mission and a strong position in business and Norwegian and international academia. Through my two years as a board member, I have gained good insight and respect for what the institution stands for. BI delivers very high quality in research and education and I look forward to further developing the school together with the board and management team at BI as we now enter a new strategic period,” says Hogna.

BI is organized as an independent foundation, led by a board of eight members, of which four are external.

“Hogna brings impressive experience and expertise that will be of great value to BI in the years to come. I look forward to further collaboration with Egil to continue to strengthen BI's position as a leading international business school,” says President of BI Karen Spens.
