BI Norwegian Business School

Welcome to BI!

Welcome to BI – we are so glad you have chosen to work with us! You have made a great decision, and we will do our utmost to welcome you and make you feel part of our organisation!

Parking and access

On the campus pages linked below, you can find information about how to get here and where you can park. Once you start working at BI, there are different parking arrangements for employees at all our campus locations. You can read more about this on our intranet on your first day.

Guest network

If you come in for a visit before your first day, you may want to access a wifi network. On this page you will find information on how to connect.

PC and telephone

All IT and phone equipment is administered by our helpdesk, 'Help!'. You will get access to the helpdesk on your first day.

PC and equipment:
Your manager will order your pc and necessary equipment, and make sure that you are set up on your first day.

Telephone:
If you are entitled to a BI phone, you can start the order before your first day at BI. You will receive an email to your private email from Techstep with a link to the site and a password. Once logged in, you have to read through the current guidelines before you can place an order.

You can choose to have the phone delivered at home or to the reception at your BI Campus.

Transferring of phone number:
If you already have a Norwegian telephone number, you will be asked by your manager if you want to transfer/port it, or if you want to receive a new number. If you want to keep your current number with a BI subscription, you need to transfer/port the ownership to BI. You have to be the current legal owner or provide a confirmation letter to transfer ownership.

You can continue to use the same SIM if you already are a Telia customer. If not, Help! can provide you with a new SIM card.

To ease the process, you can send the following information to your manager:

  • Full name
  • Date of birth
  • Address
  • E-mail
  • Phone number
  • Current phone subscription provider.
  • Confirmation from the legal owner of the number if this is not you
  • Preferred date for transfer

Access to BI systems

To access BI systems, there are two steps you need to complete:
1.    Set at password using the following link: https://password.bi.no.
2.    Activate Multifactor authentication (MFA) by following the instructions on this link: https://login.microsoftonline.com

This can only be done from your first day, using the username you will receive in a separate email approximately one week before starting.

Hybrid working guidelines

BI’s ambition is to offer employees attractive workplaces on campus as well as the opportunity and flexibility to work off campus/from home when appropriate. Employees need attractive and functional workspaces to thrive, develop and perform, as well as a supportive and inclusive working environment. Therefore, BI has developed guidelines for hybrid working, which can be obtained by your manager.

Hybrid working needs to be practiced in a way that secures BI’s overall objectives of developing high-quality in research and education in close collaboration with external stakeholders and students. BI’s students expect excellence in teaching and student services as well as an inspirational learning environment. The guidelines for hybrid working must therefore ensure both efficient operations and collaboration across the organization, as well as accommodate the individual needs and preferences of individual employees.

  • All employees are employed at one of our campuses and as a main rule, presence on campus is expected.
  • However, managers can agree on other arrangements in dialogue with their employees.
  • If the arrangements are meant to be more than sporadic and short-term, a written agreement must be drawn up.
  • Faculty and employees in independent or leading positions can, until further notice, clarify home office practice with their managers without a written agreement.

Agreements under these guidelines can only be established for home office in Norway, as international home office arrangements have significant consequences for tax, social security, pension, and insurance.

The agreements will depend on the individual job tasks. Some tasks will require campus presence, others can be solved just as well working digitally from home. However, it is important to note that in addition to individual tasks, all BI employees are expected to contribute to organizational efficiency, quality development and a good working environment. It is expected that all employees actively participate in the internal professional debate and development including collegial support and socialization. This implies a certain amount of physical presence.

Please get in touch with your manager for the guidelines that apply for your unit.
