BI aim to actively stimulate the individual employee to further development by facilitating conditions for better learning, both through the way in which duties are organised and through formal and planned learning processes. BI’s management at all levels has a special responsibility for mapping out the wishes and needs for competence development among their employees and for their department.
A systematic induction programme shall ensure that employees are provided with the necessary training to enable them to function well in their positions. Competence and career development shall be one of the themes for discussion in the planning and development conversation.
All members of the academic staff at BI are expected to further develop their competence in line with the requirements necessary to maintain a high level of quality for teaching and research at BI Norwegian Business School. By competence development is understood:
- Pedagogical development and updating, e.g. by using new technology, and developing new types of learning and assessment.
- Academic development and updating, including qualification for a higher position Business sector competence and contact: BI Norwegian Business School has an ambition to help develop practice in the business sector and public administration. All faculty are expected to have a good insight into their discipline’s practical relevance and application.
- Languages (satisfactory proficiency in Norwegian and English)
BI considers it an important goal to actively stimulate the individual employee to further development in line with the qualification requirements specified for the provision of research and education of high international quality.
BI shall seek to give doctoral students teaching experience so necessary teaching competency is required. This is to ensure that they are competitive candidates in the future job market.
