BI Norwegian Business School is committed to providing access to education for applicants who have settled in Norway under collective protection/refugee status. BI initially established the Financial Aid Award in response to the invasion of Ukraine and has now expanded the eligible applicants to include any individual who is in Norway under collective protection.
For the admission intake 2025, BI will support up to 10 applicants with a tuition waiver for applicants to full-time studies for their master’s (up to 2 years) or bachelor’s degree (maximum 3 years).
Eligibility:
Applicants must be in Norway with collective protection/refugee status by August 2025 to be eligible. Applicants must be admitted to the first year of any 3-year bachelor’s degree or the first year of any 2-year master’s degree (full-time only) at any BI campus commencing in August 2025.

Application Deadlines:
If you are currently living in Norway under collective protection/refugee status:
Master: deadline March 1
Bachelor: deadline April 15
If you are currently living abroad and eligible to come to Norway to apply for collective protection/refugee status:
Apply for admission and financial aid by June 30.
If applying after the deadlines listed above, send a letter of application for the Financial Aid Award and a CV to info@bi.no. In the subject line put: Application for Financial Aid Award 2025. For applicants applying from abroad, a Financial Aid Award would be awarded conditionally upon proof of collective protection/refugee status in Norway by August 15, 2025. The offer of the Financial Aid Award will be cancelled if documentation is not provided by the deadline.
Selection of Financial Aid Award Recipients
Applicants who can document collective protection/refugee status in Norway at the time of application will be prioritized.
Academic standing will be considered in the selection.
Financial aid will only be awarded to applicants seeking a first bachelor’s or first master’s degree.
Notification of Selection:
- Offers of the Financial Aid Award are not sent with offers of admission.
- Applicants should accept the offer of admission while awaiting the decisions on their application for financial aid.
- If applicant will receive a Financial Aid Award they will be contacted with an offer.
- Financial Aid Award offers must be accepted by the date indicated on the offer. Offers not accepted by the deadline will be withdrawn/cancelled and awarded to another candidate.
- Only those applicants who receive a Financial Aid Award offer will be notified of the results of their application. Notification is normally in two rounds in late April/early May (master) or in July (bachelor and master).
Financial Aid Award Conditions
The Financial Aid Award will be renewed annually for a maximum of 2 years for master’s degrees and 3 years for bachelor’s degrees. Recipients will need to provide documentation of their collective protection/refugee status at the beginning of each academic year in order for the financial aid award to renewed.
