After graduating with a master’s degree in quantitative finance in 2023, Frida landed a job at Pareto Asset Management as an Investment Analyst. Pareto Asset Management is a leading Nordic independent fund manager headquartered in Oslo. Her role involves thoroughly evaluating companies in both the fixed-income and equity space. We asked Frida some questions about her background and current career. Read on to learn about her path to becoming an investment analyst. 

Why did you choose to study Quantitative Finance at BI?

- The decision to pursue a master’s degree in quantitative finance at BI was driven by my early interest in quantitative subjects. Furthermore, the programme’s challenging nature and competitive admission process served as additional motivation to me. The curriculum covers topics that provide valuable insights that are crucial for future advancements, especially considering the growing quantitative emphasis in the evolving landscape of finance.

How would you describe your job as an Investment Analyst? 

- As an investment analyst at Pareto Asset Management, I thoroughly evaluate companies in the fixed-income and equity space. This includes in-depth analyses of financials, industries, and the competitive landscapes of companies. The main goal is to deeply understand the companies and industries under examination, enabling us to make well-informed investment decisions. What I find especially intriguing is the opportunity to gain extensive insights into various industries and companies through these analyses.

How do you apply what you learned from studying at BI in your role as an Investment Analyst?

- Studying at BI has given me a solid grasp of quantitative finance and has sharpened my analytical skills, contributing to a business-oriented mindset. The comprehensive curriculum at BI, combined with practical applications, not only enhanced my proficiency but also prepared me effectively for my career. Furthermore, BI's emphasis on staying updated on trends has empowered me to navigate the dynamic financial landscape with a forward-thinking approach.
